Woodford Train Rides
Date: 7th February
Time: 10:00am – 3:00pm
Place: 16-24 Margaret St, Woodford QLD 4514
The Woodford Railway runs very affordable train rides Brisbane north of the city on the first and third Sunday of each month, with trains departing roughly every 30 minutes between 10am and 3:30pm.
The Woodford Railway invites local and visiting families, nostalgic couples and train-aficionados to come for an immersive experience learning about the locomotives of yesteryear in all their glory. The train ride round-trip lasts about 20 minutes, and affords passengers the opportunity to take in the beautiful rural Woodford scenery. You may even catch sight of grazing horses as the locomotive trundles past numerous lush pastures and paddocks.
After your scenic tour, grab some happy-snaps by the train and make the station shop your last pit-stop. You can indulge your appetite for all things locomotive by picking-up railway themed books and DVDs for sale, or just quench your thirst with a cold drink.
As for those who’ve built up an appetite, head outside for a picnic or a BBQ.
The Woodford Railway provides outdoor tables, BBQ facilities and grassy spots to spread out a picnic blanket. Tuck into a picnic or grill up some snags with the family before heading home, or venturing into Woodford township.
If you’re not keen on self-catering during your family day out, no worries, Woodford has you covered! Just drive, or take a stroll into town to discover a handful of fantastic little cafes and eateries all within 1km of the Woodford Railway.
Known to locals previously as the Durundur Railway, this historical site is home to heritage train locomotives and carriages from the sugar industry dating back to the 1960s and even earlier. All of the buildings have a story to tell as well. They are all genuine railway structures steeped in history, collected from nearby townships.
